Cathy Fang

“DDP is risky if you don’t control the import record. Ask me why.”

CEO

“A transaction where the seller assumes all risk and costs associated with transporting goods until they are delivered to the named place of destination.”

The seller assumes all responsibility for transporting the goods to the buyer’s doorstep, including paying for import duties and taxes.

Common Compliance Mistake

Many e-commerce sellers assume their supplier handles customs (“DDP”), only to find goods detained at the border because the supplier used an invalid Importer of Record (IOR) number.

Pro Tip / Strategy

If you are buying DDP, ask your supplier to break down the freight and duty costs on the commercial invoice. This helps you benchmark whether they are marking up the logistics costs for extra profit.
